Junique@ the Rumson Kitchen Tour

Julia here. Finally, the Rumson Kitchen tour returned after 5 long years. Yay! Not only us– but the community was so excited to reconnect with others and explore our beautiful town. And we were lucky. May 18th was a gorgeous, sunny day, with 600 people attending and we were thrilled to be part of the tour: 10 houses, amazing kitchens, unique designs, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers, all to benefit the Rumson schools and make this day a success.

The tour was sold out a few weeks before with record interest, and all were keen to see different local houses and kitchens, get inspired by unique designs, florists, tablescapes, and get a flavor from local chefs offering some of their specialties in the tour homes. Chef Marcy Ragan from Relish Your Chef offered delicious hand pies filled with asparagus, peas, thyme, and goat cheese in our home. Guaranteed Flowers from Locust created a stunning masterpiece for the table, some beautiful creations for the kitchen island, and flowering branches for the outdoor area.
For those of you who don’t know, our family moved to the US from Germany in 2011, and the Rumson schools not only taught our kids English but did an amazing job of helping them excel academically. With Junique, we like to bring a piece of our heritage to the community: European-inspired design, our passion for modern style, and kitchens made in Germany.

Kitchen by Müller Küchen, Mudroom Junique
We collaborated with Müller Küchen from Germany for the kitchen and designed an innovative concept, all in white with smart appliances and a very clean look. We chose large, soft-close drawers without handles, and custom panels for the refrigerator and dishwasher to hide the appliances and to integrate them into the living space seamlessly. Our unique thin countertop is Lapitec, a ceramic, sintered-stone from Italy that is very durable, and resistant to all temperatures, as well as stains, and scratches. I truly love the natural texture, and the matt look. And of course, as I am passionate about cooking but want to make my life easier, we integrated smart appliances throughout the kitchen: a combi-steam oven from Miele with fully automated cooking options, a combination speed oven with an integrated microwave, an induction cooktop built flush with the countertop, a downdraft that retracts into the countertop for a clean look, and a Thermomix, an innovative all-in-one multi cooker. In addition to a large workstation sink for easy food prep, we included a small coffee bar with a bean-to-brew coffee machine, ahhhhh, motorized cabinet doors to ease navigation, dimmable lighting….oh so cozy, hidden storage within the island, and a reverse osmosis water filter o ensure our water is always more than pure!
